For the performance project Baby, directed by William Cardoso, artist and illustrator Ricardo Ladeira was invited to create the poster for the work.
The collaboration developed from the performance’s central themes: the ongoing struggle between ourselves and our mental state, and the idea of a hidden garden that inhabits our inner world. A space where vulnerability, desire, fear, and transformation coexist.
Through drawing, Ricardo sought to translate these invisible landscapes into a visual language. The illustration explores the tension between what is exposed and what remains concealed, reflecting the choices we make about how we present ourselves to others, the identities we construct, and the parts of ourselves we choose to keep private.
Rather than representing the performance directly, the drawing evokes its emotional and symbolic universe, becoming an extension of the work itself—a space where inner conflict and growth, intimacy and self-preservation, can be contemplated.
