William Cardoso (he/him) is a Portuguese-Luxembourgish choreographer and performer based in Luxembourg and Lisbon. His work, at once contradictory, unpredictable, creative, and deeply engaged, explores intimate and universal themes rooted in contemporary society. Driven by a resistance to injustice and a profound desire for change, he approaches the body as a site of resistance, struggle, and transformation.

His choreographic language is marked by a raw and non-fluid physicality, where bodies engage through tension, friction, and contradiction. Constantly questioning the relationship between movement, thought, and emotion, he seeks a poetic yet uncompromising honesty in every gesture.

Founder of the William Cardoso Company, he has created several works, including Raum, Baby, Angriff, Deadline, and A Year Without You. In 2025, he received the “Op der Bün” Prize at the Lëtzebuerger Bünepräisser, awarded by the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture in recognition of the strength and originality of his choreographic language. In 2021, he was nominated for Best Dancer in Denmark for his performance in Mass Effect at the Copenhagen Culture Awards.

His practice is rooted in dialogue, encounter, and collective creation, viewing artistic collaboration as a space where new forms of intimacy, resistance, and imagination can emerge.
